Cleaning that fits how a gym actually operates

Fitness center cleaning is its own category. The sweat factor alone changes everything — surfaces, mats, locker rooms, and shared equipment all carry residue that office cleaning never deals with. Members notice fast when a gym isn’t kept up, and they leave fast when it slips. Cleanliness is one of the top three factors in fitness member retention, alongside equipment quality and class instruction.

We clean fitness facilities with that reality in mind. Crews work outside your operating hours — overnight for 24-hour gyms with off-peak windows, after-close for boutique studios, or pre-opening for early-morning facilities. We use equipment-safe sanitizers that won’t damage the finishes on weight machines, cardio equipment, or yoga props.

What we clean in a fitness facility

Workout floor and equipment: Cardio equipment wiped down with equipment-safe sanitizers — surfaces members touch, plus screens, handlebars, and control panels. Weight machines and benches sanitized. Free weight areas wiped down. Cable attachments and shared accessories cleaned. We don’t disassemble or move equipment.

Studios and class spaces: Group fitness studio floors swept and mopped or vacuumed depending on surface. Yoga and Pilates studios cleaned with extra attention to floor surfaces (members spend the entire class on the floor). Mirrors polished. Props (where stored in studio) wiped externally. Sound and AV equipment dusted carefully.

Mat areas and stretching zones: Mat surfaces wiped and sanitized. Foam rollers, stretch bands, and shared equipment cleaned where accessible. Stretching zone floors mopped or vacuumed.

Locker rooms and showers: The single most important area in any gym for cleanliness perception. Showers thoroughly cleaned and sanitized — tile, drains, fixtures, and curtains or doors. Floors mopped with disinfectants appropriate for wet, high-traffic spaces. Lockers exterior wiped. Bathroom fixtures cleaned and sanitized to a higher standard than office restrooms. High-touch surfaces sanitized thoroughly.

Reception, lobby, and common areas: Front desk and check-in area cleaned. Lobby seating wiped. Member lounge or refreshment areas tidied. Pro shop (where applicable) cleaned externally. Drinking fountains and water bottle fill stations sanitized.

Restrooms (members and staff): Standard restroom cleaning to higher-than-office standards. Mirrors polished, floors mopped, fixtures sanitized, supplies restocked.

What we use, and what we don’t

Fitness equipment isn’t just an investment for facility owners — it’s a delicate surface. Most cardio equipment has touchscreens, electronic displays, vinyl grips, and metal finishes that can be damaged by the wrong cleaning products. Strong solvents discolor vinyl, strip protective finishes, and corrode metal over time.

We use sanitizers specifically designed for fitness equipment — alcohol-based or peroxide-based wipes and sprays, formulated to not strip finishes or fog screens. For higher-touch surfaces like handlebars and grips, we use slightly stronger sanitization; for screens and electronics, gentler product approach.

If your facility has specific product requirements from your equipment manufacturers (some commercial equipment warranties specify cleaning product types), we use what you specify or supply.

Locker rooms drive more member complaints than any other area in a fitness facility, and they’re the area most cleaning vendors do poorly. Our locker room cleaning isn’t a generic restroom approach scaled up:

  • Shower areas cleaned with attention to tile, grout, fixtures, drains, and curtains/doors
  • Drains checked and cleared of debris
  • Floors mopped with disinfectants designed for wet locker room environments. Rubber mats lifted, cleaned underneath, and replaced
  • Lockers wiped externally. Locker handles and combination dials sanitized
  • Counters, sinks, and vanity areas cleaned and sanitized. Mirrors polished
  • Supplies restocked from your inventory
  • Trash and laundry emptied completely
  • Air freshening as needed; we don’t mask odors with strong fragrance, we eliminate the source

Three windows that fit gym operating hours

Overnight (24-hour gyms): Crews work during off-peak overnight window — typically between midnight and 5 AM when member volume is lowest.

After-hours (after close): For gyms with set closing hours (most boutique studios, traditional gyms, and specialty fitness facilities), crews arrive after close and finish before the next morning’s opening.

Pre-opening (before doors open): For early-morning facilities, crews arrive 1–2 hours before doors open and complete cleaning before the first members arrive.

What products do you use on cardio equipment?

Alcohol-based or peroxide-based sanitizers designed for fitness equipment — the same product categories used by commercial gym chains. They kill bacteria and viruses without damaging vinyl, metal finishes, or touchscreens. If your equipment manufacturer specifies particular cleaning products in their warranty, we use what they specify or what you supply.

How do you handle the locker room cleanliness standards members expect?

Locker rooms get dedicated attention every visit — not just standard restroom cleaning scaled up. If your facility has recurring issues (specific shower with mildew problems, slow drain, etc.), we build those into routine attention rather than waiting for them to escalate.

Do you work in yoga and Pilates studios specifically?

Yes. Yoga and Pilates studios have different cleaning needs than weight gyms — heavy floor focus, mirror care, mat surface cleaning, and prop sanitization.

How quickly can you respond if a member reports a cleanliness issue?

For active accounts, we typically respond same-day or next-day for non-routine issues. Same-day response during business hours; next-morning if the issue is reported overnight.

Can you handle group fitness class turnover?

Yes for major resets between classes (sanitize equipment, wipe down floor, restock if needed) — typically built into a daytime presence add-on for larger facilities, or scheduled as part of standard cleaning depending on your hours.

We have showers and pools. Do you handle pool decking?

We handle pool decking and surrounding floor areas — sweep, mop, sanitize. We don’t service the pool itself (water chemistry, filtration, pool surface cleaning) — that’s pool maintenance, a separate specialty.

Will the same crew clean our facility each visit?

Yes. Your facility is assigned to a specific crew, and your manager will know their names.

Can you provide a Certificate of Insurance?

Yes. We carry $500,000 general liability and are bonded. COIs are typically sent within 1-2 business days of request.
